Scott Hammer, D.V.M.
Dr. Hammer is a new addition to our team of doctors. His special interests include exotic animal medicine and surgery for birds, reptiles, and small mammals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, and ferrets. Dr. Hammer graduated from NC State College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, he went on to complete an internship in exotic companion animal medicine. He practiced for a few years in Connecticut, then made the decision to follow his heart (and now fiancée) to the great state of Texas.
Dr Hammer treats all kinds of species seen at SAH, but has a soft spot for exotics. He also has a big interest in small mammal dentistry. He enjoys anesthesia and pain management. Dr. Hammer strongly believes client education is one of the most important aspects of the veterinary profession, especially for our exotic companions. In addition, He is a big proponent of preventative medicine for all species.
SAH is pleased to have Dr. Hammer as the newest member of our team. We are confident he is going to be a tremendous asset to our clients and, most importantly, our patients.
Dr. Hammer is already enjoying North Texas’s weather and spending time outdoors. He currently shares his home with a mix of mammals, reptiles, and fish. He visits the Fort Worth zoo regularly to visit the animals and see his fiancée (who is also the zoo staff veterinarian) caring for the many exotics there.
